e스포츠의 스포츠화에 관한 이론적 접근
이 연구의 목적은 e스포츠의 스포츠화 논쟁에 적용 가능한 이론적 틀 을 탐색하는 것이다. 우선 외재주의 이론은 수단-목적의 관계에서 e스포 츠가 스포츠라는 주장을 하고 있어 논리적 연결고리가 취약하다고 할 수 있다. 반면에 내재주의 이론은 스포츠에 내재하고 있는 규범적 원리 들을 바탕으로 스포츠의 성격을 규정하기 때문에 e스포츠의 스포츠화 논쟁을 뒷받침하기에 적절하며, 접근방식에 따라 형식주의, 관습주의, 폭 넓은 내재주의로 구분된다. e스포츠의 스포츠화 논쟁에 있어 형식주의는 신체활동 유무의 논쟁을 불러일으킬 수 있어 부적합하며, 관습주의는 신 체활동의 문제를 일부 해결해 줄 가능성을 제공해주며, 폭넓은 내재주의 는 e스포츠만의 내재적 원칙들을 설정하고 정당화하는데 적합한 이론이 될 수 있다.
A Theoretical Approach to the Approval of eSports as a Sports
The purpose of this study was to explore the theoretical frame could be applied in argument about the approval of esports as a sports. Externalist theories of sport understand esports as a sports in mean and end connection, so they have a logically weak link. On the other hand, internalist theories of sport aim to identify the distinctive values and purposes of sport, so they are suitable for supporting the approval of esports as a sports and divided into three approaches; formalism, conventionalism, and broad internalism. In argument about the approval of esports as a sports, formalism would be inconducive because it could cause debate on physical activity, conventionalism could create new possibility to settle the dispute on physical activity, and broad internalism could be an appropriate theory in establishing and justifying the internal principles of esports.
